What it is
Long-only U.S. equity, across the S&P 500 companies with an AI product. We believe the companies that fit our thesis best are the best to hold. For every company, AI reads a few things, each with its reason and the dated sources it rests on:
- Its AI productsThe one to three that matter most to the business, for good or for ill — whether people really use them, and use them more, early ones included, and whether one defines its category, is a credible contender, or is the first of its kind. A young product is never marked down for being young.
- Where AI grows, and where it takes work awayWhere the company is building what AI makes possible, and where the big AI labs already ship what it sells. That risk only counts against a company; a defense against the labs never lifts one by itself.
- What it can build withIts own chips, compute, data, models and team, and how it already reaches people.
- Its peopleA company that uses AI to give its people better work, keeping and retraining them, counts for it; one that takes the gain by laying people off counts against it.
- What it does to peopleA product that isolates people, or draws them into gambling or compulsive use, counts against a company; one that builds community, or gives a real benefit, counts for it. A product with neither is neutral, and neutral is fine to hold.
- What the price already holdsA rising price is proof that people pay for it and never counts against a company; an impact the market has already paid for counts for less than the same story still ahead.
- The screenA few hard stops keep a company out whatever else is true, the bishops' investing guidelines among them.
AI judges all of it together, in the light of Magnifica Humanitas: every company gets one score from 0 to 100 on one written scale, the same for every industry and checked against reference companies graded beside it, and a rank — its place in that order, rebuilt every night. There are no weights and no formula: every reading keeps its reason and its sources, and the instructions the AI is given are published beside the research. When BuildSaints sets a company's place itself, its page says so, with the reason and the AI's own score and rank beside it.
How it runs
- Your risk levelYour portfolio holds the top of the ranking — 15, 12, 10, 8 or 5 companies, by the risk level you choose; the fewer the companies, the more it can swing. We recommend 10, risk level 3; you always choose, and nothing is chosen for you.
- How it stays spreadNo area of AI and no family of businesses over a third of the portfolio.
- The tradingEqual parts on entry. Each week a holding grown past twice its share is trimmed back to twice — only the excess is sold, so winners keep running. A company is sold only when it falls below twice the portfolio's size on the ranking (below #20 for 10 companies), or the same day if it hits a hard stop.
- Your tapEvery change is a proposal with its reason in plain words, placed only by your tap. What you already own stays yours.
- The amountAny amount, at any risk level. We recommend; you decide — and any limit of your own is yours to set.
- The horizonHeld for the long term. No day trading, no leverage, no shorts.
- The sourcesEvery reading traces to dated sources you can open — the company's own filings and pages, the news, and the AI labs' own release notes.
